What Has a Mouse To Do With Your Life Experience? Let’s Ask an Art Historian and Filmmaker. Get Ready to Smile.

in Entertainment, What She Said on 11/18/22

Mickey Mouse stands alone as an enduring and powerful, evocative graphic image. There is no pop figure with his commercial, cultural or social impact. He conjures up different feelings for different folks but at its heart suggests, joy, laughter, fun, and pure entertainment, a reliable presence our entire lifetimes and it’s all there in the new documentary Mickey: The Story of a Mouse. Born in 1928 to star in the talking animated short Steamboat Willy, Walt Disney created Mickey to replace their first failing animated character Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. And boy, did he take off. What She Said’ Anne Brodie spoke with Art Historian Dr. Carmenita Higginbotham and producer Meghan Walsh about this enduring mouse hero.
