Recording 101: The Techy Stuff Made Simple
Join your What She Said recording session through this link: Riverside.fm. Here’s a quick checklist to ensure your tech is as ready as you are:
- Browser & App: Chrome on your computer or the RiversideFM App on your phone works best.
- Sound Check: Avoid noisy jewelry or things that may rub against your mic, clapping hands, or moving around too much. If you don’t have a dedicated mic, opt for headphones with a mic for crystal-clear audio.
- Silence is Golden: Mute your phone and close any noisy tabs. Let’s keep those email dings out of our chat!
- Location, Location, Location: A cozy, small room works best. It’s all about reducing that echo.
- Light It Up: Check your lighting. Natural light in front or a ring light makes you look fabulous!
- Background Spy: Take a quick selfie to check your background. Any items you’d prefer to keep out of the frame?
- Tech Check Option: To ensure everything runs smoothly, I offer a quick technical check before the recording day. This is a great opportunity to test your setup and resolve any technical glitches in advance. If you would like to do this please book a time here and indicate it is a tech check.
- Dress Code Tips: Since parts of our interview might be shared on visual platforms, I recommend wearing solid colours or simple patterns. Avoid overly bright or distracting clothing and accessories, as they might not translate well on camera.
REMEMBER THIS IS AUDIO FIRST AND FOREMOST. IF YOU ARE GOING TO HOLD UP YOUR PRODUCT OR BOOK, YOU MUST DESCRIBE IT AS MOST WILL NOT SEE IT AND IT WON’T MAKE SENSE WITHOUT PROPER CONTEXT ADDED.
No Stress, Just Fun!
Feeling a bit nervous? No worries! It’s like chatting with a friend over coffee. We’re not live, so if you’re not feeling an answer, we can pause, relax, and reset. It’s all about having a relaxed, enjoyable conversation.

That’s it! You’re all set to make your mark on ‘What She Said’. I can’t wait to chat and share some laughs together. See you soon in my virtual studio!
