Jodie Whittaker who you know as the only female Dr. Who, is Orla in BritBox’ gripping miniseries Time S2. Orla’s an impoverished single mother of three sent to prison for “stealing electricity” in desperation one cold winter. Her children are sent to live with her alcoholic mother, then taken into foster care; she’s lost them for a minor infraction. As she endures horrific conditions in prison and family events outside it, she begins to unravel. Whittaker told What She Said’ Anne Brodie that the character becomes “animalistic”.
