Exploring Diverse Perspectives: From Human Trafficking to Personal Identity and Marine Conservation

in What She Said Podcast on 04/30/24

In this week’s What She Said, I continue to embrace a philosophy that’s at the heart of my show: I am not a niche, and neither are you. That’s why each episode offers a variety of topics. It’s about exposing us to different concepts and ideas, broadening our perspectives, and reminding us that learning is an expansive, ongoing, and fulfilling journey. Whether discussing the grim realities of human trafficking, the reflective narratives of personal identity in pop culture, or the urgent need for marine conservation, each topic enriches our understanding. We do not have to be experts in everything, but we are definitely better humans when we continue to expand our horizons. You’ll find in depth interviews occasionally sprinkled in between weekly shows, but for the most part I’m committed to hearing from as many Canadian women as possible on as many issues as possible. BUT, I’m keen to hear your views on this approach? Do you appreciate the eclectic mix, or do you prefer deeper dives into specific topics? I’m open to your feedback because ultimately this show is yours. Let’s shape the journey together, email me or message me on social with your thoughts.

Now, let’s dive into the enriching discussions in this episode:

Anu George Canjanathoppil, Executive Director of International Justice Mission Canada, joins me to shed light on the severe issue of human trafficking and the online sexual exploitation of children. Anu’s insights into the geographic prevalence and harsh realities of these crimes provide a critical perspective that demands attention and action. Spoiler: Canadian men represent the fourth largest consumers of this material worldwide.
