Canada’s Poignant Oscar Entry Eternal Spring From Jason Loftus and Daxiong.

in Entertainment, What She Said on 09/22/22

Documentarian Jason Loftus and artist /protester Daxiong pay a remarkable film tribute to the brave souls who carried out the 2002 hijacking of Chinese state TV to counter China’s crackdown on the spiritual practice of Falun Gong. Daxiong, a renowned commercial artist was arrested, but unlike his colleagues, some of whom died in police custody, he escaped and settled in Toronto. He provides breathtaking animation along with Loftus’ live-action interviews to make the wrenching, yet beautiful documentary Eternal Spring, describing the events and blowback of their political act. Eternal Spring is Canada’s submission for the 2032 Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Category. What She Said’ Anne Brodie spoke with Loftus.
