How do you deal with change?
For most of us, change is scary business and we don’t adapt or handle it well in business or pleasure.
Social Change…
Think about what has changed in the past 10 years……fax machines, CD’s and even for the most part PC’s have all been replaced with laptops, email, PDA,s and USB’s. Even the new electronic language is confusing. I’m sure you know of people who have either changed jobs, retired or started new companies.
So what do you do when your facing something that is life altering?
Share Experiences…
I was dealing with both personal and professional change at the same time. I had closed my business and was separated in a matter of months. This was definitely a time of change and I was looking for help to ease through the transition.
I remember standing in my kitchen answering emails and wondering if I could “Google” my new life.
So, after I took a look at my own life experience and some of the tips and tools I was using with my clients as a personal trainer, I developed a formula. Everything from writing a resume and going on a job interview to health and wellness goals.
Now, we all experience change and as I spoke with people on their journey they began to ask me to share the formula so that they too could navigate through their own situation.
So, I wrote a book called A Diary of Change 12 Personal Tools.
It’s a quick an easy reference guide with tips and tools that also include a few exercises, Inspirational quotes and recipes.
Participate…
In fact, I’m asking anyone who reads the book to participate in a charitable effort with an information share called Fuel: Family Recipes and Comfort Food because I’ve found that when we experience change we often look for both comfort and the familiar. What could be better than sharing a recipe your Mom or member of your family made when you were growing up?
For me, it was shortbread…..somehow those pretty little cookies made me feel better, even if only for a few minutes.
100% of the proceeds will go to charity and I’ve chosen Cancer Awareness, the Heart and Stroke Foundation and Movember as the charitable organizations.
Join Our Tribe…
So I hope everyone will join me as they transition through change, make healthy lifestyle choices and share your favourite comfort food.
